Lucknow Supergiants bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore in IPL 2025 mega auction. After which now the owner of LSG has given the reason for buying pants for such a huge amount.
The mega auction of IPL 2025 was great for Team India’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. The biggest bid in IPL history was made on Pant. After being released from Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant has now joined Lucknow Super Giants. LSG bought Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. After which now Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjeev Goenka has given the reason for buying Pant for Rs 27 crore.
Why did you buy pants in LSG?
Even before the mega auction, there were speculations about Rishabh Pant that this player could break all the records of the auction this time and ultimately the same thing happened. LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka has also given the reason for buying Pant for Rs 27 crore. Reportedly, Sanjiv Goenka said, no, not at all. This is nothing to be proud of. No ego. We had planned the auction with pants as a core part of our strategy and budgeted accordingly.
The aim of the auction is to create a balanced team
Sanjeev Goenka further said that our aim in the auction was not to buy the most expensive player, but to create a balanced team. Apart from Pant, the team wanted to buy two fast bowlers. In which the franchise also decided to buy Bhuvneshwar Kumar, but LSG could not buy Bhuvi. After which LSG turned to Avesh Khan and Akash Deep. LSG bought Avesh for Rs 9.75 crore and Akash Deep for Rs 8 crore. Whereas Bhuvneshwar Kumar was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 10.75 crore.
LSG bought 13 players
This time, Lucknow Super Giants have bought 13 players in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Which includes 6 batsmen and 7 bowlers. LSG bought Rishabh Pant as the most expensive player by spending Rs 27 crore.
