Jammu Kashmir News: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided that the task force of National Security Guard NSG Commandos will be permanently present in Jammu city. This task force will take immediate action to deal with any major terrorist attack. Additionally, security plans have been prepared for high-rise buildings, security installations and other sensitive public places. Officials said a special squad of NSG has now been permanently deployed in Jammu city. This squad will be ready to deal with the terrorists within a few minutes in any emergency. This step of the Home Ministry has been taken in view of the recent terrorist attacks on security forces in Jammu region and the potential threat to the city.

The number of NSG commandos has not been disclosed due to security reasons, but officials have described it as “substantial”. Earlier, in case of terrorist attacks, NSG commandos had to be called from New Delhi or Chandigarh, which was a very time consuming process. Now the local presence of NSG commandos will ensure prompt action.

Security planning and roles

The deployment of NSG commandos is part of the counter-terrorism plan of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP). The scheme is mainly designed to protect high-rise buildings, shopping malls, cinema halls and other sensitive places from terrorist attacks.

Officials said that now it has become very difficult for terrorists to enter the city because a multi-layered security cordon has been prepared there. However, Special Operation Group (SOG) and JKP will be at the forefront to deal with any emergency. If the encounter continues for a long time then NSG help will be taken.

Security Audit and Preparation

Police and SOG teams are continuously conducting security audits. This includes shopping malls, cinema halls, government offices and other sensitive places. A detailed action plan has been prepared to immediately foil any terrorist attack at these places.

This year there have been many terrorist attacks targeting security forces. Many soldiers have been martyred in these attacks, while many terrorists have also been killed.
