Fraudulent agents used fake LOI (Letter of Intent) and fake offer letters from colleges and universities to send 10,000 youth to Canada to study. A large number of these students are of Punjab origin, while the rest are from Haryana and Gujarat and some from Delhi.

There has been a stir after this revelation by the Canadian government and many college operators are also likely to be punished. It is being investigated why he applied without verifying the documents?

Over 5 lakh student visa applications cross-checked

According to a report by the Canadian government, more than 5 lakh student visa applications were cross-checked this year. During investigation, out of 5 lakh applications, 93 percent were found to be genuine, but fake documents were found in 2 percent of the applications. In many cases, even colleges and universities were not able to verify the admission letters submitted for visa.

Last year, a big fraud was exposed in Canada. Many Indian students were sent to Canada with fake admit cards by fake counselors from India. When this was revealed after reaching Canada, the students were sent back to India.

Jalandhar agent sent 700 students

A Jalandhar-based fraud agent got 700 students admitted into Canadian colleges using fake offer letters. When work permits started being issued to these students, there was an uproar. Taking a lesson from this, the government has started verification of the admit cards issued this year. Under the new rules, all colleges and universities are required to verify the admit card through an online portal.

The government is in crisis after 10,000 students fraudulently entered Canada. Retired IG SK Kalia of Punjab Police has called this matter very worrying. He said that along with the fake agents, action should also be taken against the colleges and universities involved in this. Punjab and Central Government should also talk to the Canadian Government on this issue, because it is not the students’ fault in this. He has been betrayed by the agents. Most of them are Punjabi, so the state government should identify the agents.

game played by fake agents

Sukant, former head of the Association of Overseas Consultants, says that the agents have played the entire game. To get the visa, he prepared fake offer letters from leading colleges. The Canadian Embassy issued the visa, but upon reaching there the student was admitted to another college. The embassy did not verify the offer letters with the colleges, which the agents took advantage of and jeopardized the future of the students.
