After the death of Mahendra Singh Mewar, the coronation of his son Nathdwara MLA Vishwaraj Singh Mewar took place on Monday afternoon in the courtyard of Fatah Prakash Mahal in Chittorgarh, but after returning to Udaipur in the evening, Vishwaraj Singh, as per tradition, visited Prayaggiri Maharaj’s Dhuni and family deity Bannath situated in the City Palace of Udaipur. Could not have darshan. Due to the age-old property dispute of the royal family, Lakshyaraj Singh, son of Vishvaraj’s uncle Arvind Singh, calling it a legal issue, banned entry and closed the gates of the City Palace. In such a situation, a large number of his supporters including Vishvaraj gathered on the City Palace road.
The administration kept trying to solve this problem till night, Lakshyaraj Singh was talked to at City Palace three-four times, but no positive attitude was seen, however, stone pelting started from inside. Large bricks and bottles were thrown. A policeman and a woman were injured due to this. After this, Additional District Magistrate Shahr War Singh adopted a strict stance and attached the road leading from Badi Pol to Dhuni and Zanana Mahal at the disputed site City Palace and the place where Dhuni was located. The police station officer issued preliminary orders to appoint the receiver of the clock tower. This notice has been issued to Arvind Singh Mewar and others through Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation. The notice was pasted at the main gate of the City Palace at night.
Earlier, Ghantaghar police station officer gave his report regarding law and order to the district administration in which he told that after the coronation, as per tradition, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar along with about 3 thousand people reached the Dhuni of Prayaggiri Maharaj at City Palace and demonstrated there. The barricading was broken and the police even used mild force when the crowd tried to move forward. Fearing that law and order would deteriorate if more force was used to stop this, the police station officer requested to appoint a receiver on the disputed property under section 164 of BNS. On the basis of this, the administration issued orders to attach the disputed area and appoint a receiver. However, the concerned party has also been asked to submit its reply by December 2.
Even after the action of pasting the notice, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar remained at the spot with his supporters till late night. He did not clarify what further steps he would take to have darshan of Dhuni and the family deity as per tradition. Meanwhile, various societies of the city, including the Kshatriya community, have expressed their displeasure over Lakshyaraj Singh blocking the way of Vishvaraj Singh of Mewar, who was going to visit after the coronation, and have announced boycott from social functions.
