Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party has surprised everyone by achieving the biggest victory in the history of Maharashtra elections. Although BJP’s vote share has not increased much compared to the last assembly elections, but the seats have increased.
In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, BJP fielded candidates on 150 seats and won 105 seats. In the last election, BJP’s vote share was 25.75. In this election, candidates stood on 149 seats and won more seats than last time. This time BJP’s vote share is only 26.71 percent.
BJP’s vote share in the Lok Sabha elections was 26.18 percent but its number of seats decreased from 24 to 9.
Thus, BJP’s vote share has remained almost unchanged but its strike rate has increased significantly. Out of 149 seats, BJP is in a position to win the seats with more than 80 percent strike rate. BJP leaders themselves also admit that they did not think that they would get such a victory.
