Aadhaar Card Update: Are you moving to a new city or have you recently changed your address? If yes then do not forget to update your new address as per your Aadhaar. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is encouraging citizens to review their Aadhaar card information. Especially those people who have not updated their Aadhar card for 10 years. For this, UIDAI has extended its previous deadline to update your Aadhar card for free till December 14, 2024.
According to the Aadhaar Enrollment and Update Regulations, 2016, “Submission of a document or information as proof of identity, i.e. identity as well as address, to the Aadhaar number holder on completion of at least 10 years from the date of issue of Will be necessary. Update Aadhaar number at least once.
UIDAI posted on social media platform X, “UIDAI has extended the free online document upload facility till 14th December 2024 for the convenience of millions of Aadhaar number holders.
This free service is available only on myAadhaar portal. UIDAI is constantly encouraging people to keep their Aadhaar documents updated.
Aadhaar is a unique number and no citizen can have a duplicate number as it is linked to their biometrics. Its biometrics process helps in identifying fake identities.
A press statement issued by PIB on November 10, 2022, said, “Citizens who have issued their Aadhaar 10 years ago and have never updated it in between, such Aadhaar number holders are advised to update their documents. is encouraged.”
UIDAI had earlier issued a press statement urging people to keep their documents with them. The recently issued gazette notification also clearly states that citizens will have to do this every 10 years. Keeping the documents updated in Aadhaar helps in living life and getting better services.
