Bhopal, 23 November (HS). The period of severe winter has started in the entire state including the capital Bhopal. The cold is breaking records in November itself. The record of cold in the month of November in the capital Bhopal in the last 10 years has been broken. The mercury here has reached below 10 degrees. Not only are the nights cold in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain, the mercury has reached around 26 degrees during the day too. Hill stations like Pachmarhi, Amarkantak, Kalyanpur, Shajapur-Rajgarh and small towns are the coldest. This Saturday morning, moderate fog was seen in the northern part of the state i.e., Gwalior-Chambal division. At the same time, there is smog in Bhopal. There is an effect of smog in other cities also. The days are also cold here.
According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance is active in the north-western part and a cyclonic circulation is active in the eastern part. At the same time, northern winds are also coming into the state. Due to this it is very cold. Apart from Bhopal and Jabalpur, the night temperature in Shahdol’s Kalyanpur, Pachmarhi, Shajapur, Amarkantak, Mandla, Shivpuri’s Piprasama, Umaria and Rajgarh is below 10 degrees, while in other cities the temperature is below 15 degrees. However, the Meteorological Department has said that there will be an increase in mercury. The period of severe cold will come again from 25th November.
Here, on Saturday morning the effect of moderate fog was seen in Gwalior, Morena, Bhind and Datia. For the first time this season, the temperature in Indore last night was 11.6 (-2) degrees Celsius. Last night’s minimum temperature in Ujjain was 11.2 degrees Celsius. Whereas in Gwalior the minimum night temperature has come down to 11.3 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further drop of 2 degrees in temperature in the next 48 hours.
Talking about big cities, the temperature in Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Ujjain has reached 5.6 degrees below normal (15 degrees). Bhopal has seen the biggest decline, while Jabalpur is at second place. The temperature in Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur is around 12 degrees. At the same time, on the night of Thursday-Friday, the mercury in Kalyanpur was 7.1 degrees, while in Pachmarhi it was recorded at 7.2 degrees. 8.1 degrees were recorded in Mandla, 9 degrees in Piprasama, Umaria and Rajgarh of Shivpuri, 9.7 degrees in Malajkhand of Balaghat.
