Addressing a special session of the Parliament of Guyana on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that relations between India and Guyana are very close. These relationships are relationships of soil, sweat and hard work. About 180 years ago, an Indian came to Guyanese soil and since then, through ups and downs, relations between India and Guyana have been close.
Prime Minister Modi also said that the strongest mantra to move the world forward today is – democracy first, hum.ty first. The spirit of Democracy First teaches us to move together while the spirit of Hum.ty First decides the direction of our decisions. 24 years ago I got a chance to visit this beautiful country out of curiosity. Even today there will be many people in Guyana who will remember meeting me.
