Vedanta Aluminum public sector gas company GAIL (India) Limited Has entered into an agreement with. A gas sales agreement has been signed with Vedanta Aluminum and the transition to natural gas is likely to begin by the end of next year, Vedanta Aluminum said in a statement on Wednesday. This is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 47,292 tons annually.
Target of zero carbon emissions by 2050
Vedanta is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 by implementing a dual strategy. This dual strategy involves increasing the use of renewable energy and creating ‘carbon sinks’ i.e. sequestering carbon through afforestation efforts. 7.5 km long pipeline will be laid
GAIL Gas Limited will install a 7.5 km long pipeline to supply approximately 32,000 standard cubic meters of natural gas per day. The contract period will be five years after the pipeline is commissioned. Vedanta Aluminum produced 23.7 lakh tonnes of aluminum in the financial year 2023-24.
