Russian President Vladimir Putin may visit India in the coming months. Preparations for Putin’s visit to India are going on in full swing and the dates of Putin’s visit will be officially announced soon. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the news.

He said that the dates of President Putin’s visit to India are under discussion and will be announced soon. According to Russian news agency Sputnik, the purpose of Putin’s visit to India is to further strengthen diplomatic and economic relations with India. Putin’s proposed visit to India is being discussed a lot at the international level. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant against Putin for alleged war crimes committed during the Russia-Ukraine war. Under the Rome Statute of the ICC, it is the responsibility of a Member State to detain a person with an ICC arrest warrant if they arrive there. But India has neither signed nor ratified this treaty.

It is noteworthy that India and Russia have decades-old strategic and economic relations and issues like defence, energy and trade are likely to be discussed between the two countries during Putin’s visit to India.
