Brisbane: Australia’s renowned literary org.zation Indos Punjabi Sahitya Academy org.zed Dr. Surjeet Patar Memorial Service at the local Indos Punjabi Library Inala last Sunday. His wife Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur Patar from India especially participated in this. At the beginning of the program, Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur Patar lit a candle in the memory of Surjeet Patar and paid her respects. After this, Peace Justice Dalveer Halwarvi, logical writer Manjit Boparai, IPSA Secretary Sarabjit Sohi, lyricists Nirmal Singh Deol and Sarabjit Singh Goraya remembered Patar Saheb in their own words and expressed their views about his poetry and personality. Amanpreet Kaur Tallewal made the atmosphere emotional with Surjit Patar Huron’s famous poem Araikha Khat. Singer Jas Malli performed a song on some of his shares.
In the second part of the ceremony, filmmaker and actor Bob Khaira, who came from America, paid tribute to Patarji, shared his old memories with him and sang a song for the audience. Patar Saheb’s grandson Avir Patar gave a beautiful presentation by singing a children’s song in Totli language on the memories of the time spent with his grandfather. In the end, Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur Patar told some special things about the moments she spent with Dr. Surjit Patar as her life partner and his nature. He shared many things about Surjeet Patar ji’s lifestyle, hobbies and outlook in life in general.
Mrs. Bhupinder Patar revived Patarji’s style and voice by singing a ghazal. He was awarded the Award of Honor by IPSA. Jarnail Singh Bassi, Paul Roque, Major Hayer, Gurjit Singh Uppal, Bikramjit Singh Chandi, Mrs. Jasbir Kaur and Prince Nilon etc. were present on this occasion. In this program, Holland-based writer Joginder Singh Bath’s book ‘Canada Canada Main Jaana’ was presented before the people. Rupinder Soz played the role of stage secretary.
