Dhamtari, 18 November (HS). Farmers of Duban area are facing difficulties in selling paddy at support price. A crowd of aggrieved farmers reached the Collectorate on 18th November and requested to sell their paddy in the procurement centres, so that they can also get the benefit of purchasing paddy at significant support price of the government.
Farmers Dharamraj Yadav, Jagdish Dewangan, Ishwar Markam, Kanhaiya Lal, Sagar Bai, Hemin Bai and other farmers, residents of village Malgaon under Duban area, reached the Collectorate office. In the memorandum submitted to the Collector, farmers Rajesh Salam, Tilak Dewangan and Rajendra Mandavi said that village Malgaon is affected by Gangrel Dam submergence. Agriculture is done on the land saved from the dam. There are 50 to 60 farmers in the village, who have been registered to purchase paddy through temporary lease. Last year, paddy was purchased at support price. Paddy is not being purchased this year, hence there is a demand to purchase paddy at support price. Last year, the difference amount was also given along with the support price. This time, if paddy is purchased at the support price, there is a doubt whether the difference amount will be received or not. Taking the demands of the farmers seriously, the officials have assured them of conveying their views to the government.
