Today, most deaths are occurring due to heart disease and stroke. Now the question is also ending as to who is more at risk. Because men and women of all ages are being affected by it. However, women are more likely to avoid it.

According to a recently published study3 tests can be used to predict the risk of heart attack, stroke and heart-related diseases in women. Data of about 28,000 people were included in this study.

3 tests for heart health

The study identified three key biomarkers: low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, lipoprotein(a) or Lp(a), and high-sensitive C-reactive protein (CRP), which signals inflammation.

Importance of Biomarkers

The levels of LDL, Lp(a) and CRP in the blood were measured. Increased levels of these biomarkers were associated with a 2.6-fold increased risk of cardiovascular events in women.

Relationship between inflammation and cholesterol

Inflammation and high cholesterol levels increase the risk of heart disease. At the same time, high levels of CRP can be due to many reasons, such as obesity or genetics.

Lifestyle and Risks

High LDL cholesterol and Lp(a) levels are lifestyle related, but in some cases they may also be genetic. It is clear that adopting a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk.

Must get tested at this age

Researchers believe that monitoring heart health should start at the age of 30 to 40 years. The risk of heart-related problems can be reduced by timely checkups and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
