Bangladesh Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzam has demanded to amend the Constitution there. He proposed to remove words like socialism, Bengali nationalism and secularism used in the Constitution. Apart from this, Bangabandhu has also requested to remove the identity of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Father of the Nation.

With reference to Article 8 of the Constitution, he said that socialism and secularism are not compatible with the real situation of Bangladesh. Because 90 percent of the population here is Muslim. Even the term Bengali nationalism included in Appendix 9 is not compatible with the principles of modern democracy. They have also sought to remove the 15th Amendment to the Constitution, passed by the Parliament of Bangladesh on 30 June 2011, which recognizes Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Father of the Nation. He said that after the constitutional amendment, the country will be run in a democratic and moral manner. He supported the provision of referendum.

Attorney General said- 15th amendment to the Constitution weakens some things

Asaduzzama said upholding the 15th Amendment weakens the spirit of the 1990 liberation war insurgency as well as the 2024 revolution. The reforms have prolonged authoritarian rule and violated constitutional supremacy. This amounts to an attack on democracy and the rule of law. Divides people and threatens political stability.
