ICC Champions Trophy 2025 : Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has given a big statement after India’s refusal to go to the ICC Champions Trophy-2025 to be held in Pakistan in February-March next year. The ministry has said that there is no behind-the-scenes conversation with India. Along with this, the ministry has also claimed that, ‘The tournament should not be linked with politics.’
At present no talks are going on with India
Pakist. Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was asked about the status of next year’s cricket tournament in Pakistan. “There have been no behind-the-scenes talks with India to specifically discuss the Champions Trophy and bilateral cricket between Pakistan and India,” he said.
‘The tournament should not be linked to politics’
He said that the detailed details regarding hosting of the Champions Trophy in Pakistan and the participation of various teams are available with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and only they can provide more details. He also said, ‘Sports tournaments should not be linked with politics. Pakistan has always been saying that sports should not be politicized.
PCB exposed in front of ICC
When Baloch was asked whether Pakistan would continue hosting the Champions Trophy if India refused to send a team to Pakistan? So he said, ‘PCB is in touch with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to discuss arrangements including the participation of various teams in the Champions Trophy. Any comments or clarifications regarding a given tournament should be addressed to the PCB.
BCCI gave information to ICC
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly refused to go to Pakistan and this information has also been given to the ICC. In response to this, ICC has sought answers from PCB regarding hosting the tournament under the hybrid model. During last year’s Asia Cup, a hybrid model was used and India’s matches were played in Sri Lanka, while the rest were played in Pakistan.
