Mahindra & Mahindra’s Thar Rocks has become the first body-on-frame SUV to receive a 5-star rating for both adult-child safety from the India New Car Assessment Program (India NCAP or BNCAP).

BNCAP today (November 14) announced the crash test results of three Mahindra SUV cars. These include Mahindra Thar Rocks, XUV 3XO and XUV 400EV. All three SUVs have received a 5-star rating for safety in crash tests.

Exterior: Thar rocks a traditional boxy profile The SUV features C-shaped LED headlights with LED DRLs and a new body color 6-slat grille. There are also some silver elements on the front bumper. The fog lights and turn indicators remain intact on the 3-door hatch, but the design has been changed.

Talking about the side profile, you have been given two additional doors and the rear door handle has been fitted on the C-pillar. It also gets 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and footrests to accommodate the car. The Thar Rocks also has a matte roof with a panoramic sunroof. The company has also offered a single-pane sunroof in its lower variants.

Its taillights have been given a C-shape and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel is also provided at the rear. The special thing is that now a wiper is also provided on its rear glass, which is not seen in 3 door doors. The rear window and rear door open separately as before.

Interior: A panoramic sunroof and a 10.25-inch digital driver display The cabin of the Thar Rocks complements the black and white theme. The seats have white leather upholstery and the dashboard has black leather wrapping with contrast copper stitching. It also has a center armrest for the front passenger. There are child ISOFIX anchor seats, foldable center armrest, three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests for all passengers in the second row.

The 5-door Thar gets a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Apart from this, features like panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with rear AC vent, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging and keyless entry with push button start-stop are also provided.

security features Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Safety features like 6 airbags (standard), 360 degree camera setup, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) are provided for safety. The Thar Rocks comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), with functions like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control available.
