Chatra, July 7 (Hindustan Times). An encounter broke out between police and TPC militants on Friday near Angada village in Naxal-affected area of the district. The encounter took place with the 15 lakh prize raid squad of Ganjhu, the regional commander of the TPC militant outfit. Seeing the police being overwhelmed by the firing from both the sides, the militants fled. During this, the police have recovered a large quantity of arms and bullets.
SP Rakesh Ranjan had received secret information that Commander Assav Ganjhu along with his squad was planning to carry out some major incident by gathering near Angada village. Taking prompt action, the district police and CRPF launched a joint operation on the instructions of Rakesh Ranjan. During this, as soon as the police reached near the village, the militants started firing. In retaliation, the police personnel also fired. Seeing the police getting overwhelmed, other militants including Ganjhu fled leaving behind their weapons. The operation against the militants is on.
