New Delhi, 07 July (Hindustan Times). Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has reserved order on the matter of taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed against former Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand ordered the verdict to be pronounced on July 19.
On June 2, the court transferred the hearing of the case to the MP MLA court. Earlier, the court had reprimanded the CBI for the delay in recording the statement of arms dealer Abhishek Verma. The court had said that 35 years have passed since the case and several times orders were given to expedite the investigation. Witnesses also came forward but the CBI was satisfied by merely recording the statement under section 161.
The court had asked the CBI that those statements were not even signed by the witnesses. The court had said that if the CBI wants, it can record the statement of Abhishek Verma under section 164. Magistrate records statement under section 164. Abhishek Verma had given a complaint to Delhi Police in 2017 and demanded to increase his security. Abhishek Verma was threatened with death through e-mail.
Abhishek Verma is a witness in the murder of three Sikhs in Delhi’s Pulbangash on November 1, 1984. The Sikhs who were killed on November 1, 1984 are Badal Singh, Thakur Singh and Gurcharan Singh. All three were killed after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The case was ordered to be reopened by the Nanavati Commission.
The CBI has booked Tytler under sections 147, 109 and 302 of the Indian Penal Code in this case. According to the CBI, Tytler instigated the mob, after which the mob set fire to the Gurdwara in Pulbangash.
