Mumbai: The month ended June saw a ten per cent year-on-year increase in retail sales of vehicles in the country. Statistics from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) show that there has been a rapid increase in the demand for three-wheelers and tractors in vehicles.
According to data released by FADA, two-wheeler sales grew by seven per cent in the month ended, while three-wheelers and tractors saw a growth of 75 per cent and 41 per cent, respectively. In addition, retail sales of Utah vehicles increased by five percent, while commercial vehicle sales increased by half a percent.
Sales of commercial vehicles have increased from the pre-Corona level. Compared to June 2019, the sales of commercial vehicles have increased by 1.50 percent in June of the current year. Total auto retail sales were down 3 percent from June 2019. There has been a decline of 14 per cent in the sale of two-wheelers.
Apart from last year’s low, three-wheeler sales are witnessing strong growth on the back of positive market sentiment. FADA President M.sh Raj Singh.a said in a statement that the segment has witnessed a growth in overall sales due to increased demand for electric three-wheelers.
The FADA data also shows that on a month-on-month basis, auto retail sales declined by eight per cent. Going forward, auto retail sales are expected to pick up in view of the festive season starting late August.
