Team India’s star batter Virat Kohli not only drew crowds at the Arun Jaitley Stadium amid his return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years as he played for Delhi against the Railways but also on the live streaming platform. According to reports, day one of the fixture drew 94 lakh views on Jio Cinema.

With the 36-year-old struggling in the previous series against Australia, evidenced by an average of 23.75 across five Tests, it has forced him to return to domestic cricket. A section of fans have reportedly been waiting outside the stadium since 3:00 am to watch the batting maestro in action. However, media reports have also emerged that a stampede like situation took place outside the Arun Jaitley Stadium amid the chaos to watch Kohli in action.

The Delhi-born cricketer was seen enjoying himself on the field as multiple visuals surfaced on social media of Kohli waving the crowd and making hilarious gestures towards them. Reportedly, over 15000 turned up at the venue but stampede-like situation also triggered.

Delhi bowl the Railways out for 241 on day one

Meanwhile, Delhi have earned some semblance of control of the proceedings against the Railways on day one of the contest. Upendra Yadav (95) and Karn Sharma (50) were the standout batters for their side to get them up to a respectable total.

Although Delhi lost Arpit Rana, Yash Dhull, who came in at No.3, struck a flurry of boundaries to take their side to 41/1 in ten overs by the close.
