Gambling: 9 Housewives From Upper Middle Class Held

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Kamla Nagar police busted an all-women gambling den, which was being run for the past some months. Police found nine women who were playing cards while betting on the game.

Their aide, a man, was also arrested from the spot. A sum of Rs 56,560 was recovered from them. The police have registered a case against them under Gambling Act.

According to reports, police received information about a gambling den being run in a house at Aradhna Nagar. Police raided the house and found nine women and a man gambling on card games.

The women in the age group of 30 to 45 years tried to argue with police but were taken to the police station. The women were identified as Indrabai, Anjana, Kamini, Sheela, Sapna, Poonam, Meena, Savita and Kavita.

Their aide Rajesh Kriplani was also arrested. According to TI Nirupa Pandey, all women are housewives and belong to middle and upper middle class.

Questioning from them revealed that they formed a group and started gambling. They will be questioned further to learn about the kingpin of the gambling racket and the name of the house owner where the gambling den was being run, the TI added.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police on Monday cracked a case of theft at a colony in Shahpura and arrested three persons with stolen cash and jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh. The arrested persons were being questioned further to ascertain their involvement in other cases of thefts, police officials said.

ACP Habibganj Nihit Upadhyay said resident of Jai Bhawani Society, trader Gopal Prasad Agarwal reported that thieves broke the main door of his locked house and decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh in the night on March 19 while the family was away.

Multiple police teams under TI Lokendra Singh Thakur scanned the CCTV footages and traced the escape route of the culprits. Following investigations, police team nabbed Ashutosh Srivastava (33) of Misrod and Jitendra Meena (30) of Raisen district.

The duo confessed to have stolen Rs 8 lakh and jewellery from the house of Gopal Prasad and selling some ornaments to one Dharmendra Prajapati of Indore.

Police recovered the stolen Rs 6 .83 lakh and some jewellery from a flat in Piplani area. Another police team arrested Dharmendra from Indore and seized the remaining jewellery which he has melted and forged them into gold and silver slabs.
