8th Pay Commission: Central employees are currently getting a minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000. In the new year, Modi government can give the gift of bumper salary to the central employees. The minimum basic salary of employees may increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 51,480. The government is considering bringing the 8th Pay Commission. If this happens, the fitment factor used to calculate salary will increase. If this happens, the salary will automatically increase. Although the government has not yet announced the 8th Pay Commission, it is expected that the government will increase the minimum salary and pension by 186 percent.

Currently the minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000

Under the 7th Pay Commission, employees currently get a minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000. There was an increase of Rs 7,000 from 6th Pay Commission to 7th Pay Commission. Now from 7th Pay Commission to 8th Pay Commission, the minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000 can increase to Rs 51,480 after the fitment factor of 2.86. At the beginning of the new year, 1 crore employees and pensioners may get some good news.

Pensioners’ pension will increase by 186%

An increase of 186% is also possible in pension, which may increase from Rs 9,000 to Rs 25,740. However, no official announcement has been made by the government yet. The National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has stated its demands in the memorandum of July and August 2024 regarding the 8th Pay Commission. A meeting on this is expected to be held in December.

7th Pay Commission will come in 2026

The recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission were implemented from 2016. There were major changes in salary, pension and allowances. The new commission will impact more than 1 crore central government employees and pensioners.
