8th Pay Commission: Big news for crores of government employees

The central government has soon started preparing to implement the Eighth Pay Commission. This is expected to increase income of about 47.85 lakh central government employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. After the approval of the Commission, the employees of the state government are also expected to get its benefits.

Finance Ministry started preparations

According to a report, the Finance Ministry has announced the recruitment of 35 posts to improve the operation of the Eighth Pay Commission. In the circular issued on 17 April 2025, it has been clarified that these posts will be filled on the basis of deputation, and the appointment of employees will be done for the period from the formation of the Commission to the end of work.

What has been said in the circular?

According to the Finance Ministry circular, appointments will be according to the rules of the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT). The Ministry has directed the concerned departments to broadcast circulars and send the applicants to the office of the Finance Ministry in the prescribed format with necessary documents.

Possible change in 8th pay commission

According to Cleartax report, there may be a big change in the basic salary under the 8th Pay Commission. Fitment Factor (Fitment Factor) can be increased from 2.57 to 2.85, which will increase the minimum basic salary of employees. In addition, dearness allowance may be included in the basic salary.

House rent allowance (HRA) and travel allowance (TA) will also be re -determined on the basis of new basic salary.
