The robbery of Rs 80 lakh in Chandni Chowk in Delhi was finally resolved. The police arrested two people, including the main accused Mohammad Ali and recovered the entire amount of robbery. The Israeli Facial Recognition System played an important role in solving this high-profile case.


How did the police reach the accused?

1. Examination of more than 500 CCTV cameras

  • Soon after the incident, the team of Lahori Gate, Kotwali police station and Special Staff became active.
  • Police searched around 500 CCTV footage of Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Dariyaganj and Lahori Gate.
  • The analysis was done by taking out photographs of the suspects seen in the footage.

2. Use of Israeli Facial Recognition System

  • The photo of a suspect was uploaded to the Israeli facial recognition system.
  • The system identified him as Mohammad Ali from the old criminal record.

3. main accused arrested from Dariyaganj

  • As soon as I was identified, the police laid a trap in Dariyaganj area and arrested Mohammad Ali.
  • Later his partner Sameer was also caught and the entire amount of robbery was recovered.

How was the robbery?

1. The accused were chasing the victim

  • The victim Ajamal Bhai Ganesh had left the company’s payment of Rs 80 lakh from Kucha Ghasiram on the evening of 17 March.
  • When they reached the Haveli Haider Coolie, the miscreant suddenly fired and snatched the bag and escaped.
  • After the robbery incident, the main accused escaped via Red Fort and Dariyaganj, while his partner ran in the other direction.

2. The robbery was already planned

  • CCTV footage revealed that the accused was chasing the victim’s Kucha Ghasiram.
  • Police investigation revealed that the main accused was working at the behest of another youth.
