Mumbai – A horrific accident occurred on Sunday evening when a tempo and a truck collided on the Dwarka flyover on the Mumbai-Agra highway in Nashik. Eight people died in this accident. Many others were seriously injured. Apart from this, due to this accident the traffic on Nashik Mumbai route was disrupted for an hour.

The accident happened near Ayyappa Temple at around 7.30 pm on Sunday evening. According to the incident, there were 16 passengers in the tempo. Everyone had gone to Dharangaon in Niphad for a religious program. After completing the programme, a female tempo and a male tempo were returning to Nashik’s CIDCO. All these passengers were residents of Ambad area.

The tempo of women passengers reached Sahyadrinagar. Soon after, the men’s tempo reached Dwarka checkpoint when the tempo driver lost control and collided with the back of a truck loaded with iron rods.

The collision was so strong that the iron rods directly entered the bodies of many people riding the tempo. Due to which eight people including Chetan Pawar, Santosh Mandlik, Atul Mandlik, Darshan Gharat and Yash Kharat died on the spot. Preliminary information is that some children are also traveling in this tempo.

As soon as information about the incident was received, police and fire department teams immediately reached the spot and conducted a rescue operation and immediately took all the injured to the hospital for treatment.

Before the accident, all the youth traveling in the tempo had also posted a video. In this video, all these youth are seen dancing and joking. But the young man became victim of an accident while coming from a religious program.

Due to the serious condition of the injured in this accident, there is a fear that the death toll in this accident may increase. Police have registered a case at the incident site and sent all the bodies for postmortem.

Due to this accident, there was a long queue of vehicles for four to five kilometers on Nashik Mumbai road. In which traffic was disrupted for an hour. After this, the fire department removed the affected tempo from the highway and the police made the traffic smooth within some time.

According to the initial investigation of the police, due to the darkness of the night, the tempo driver did not see any red mark or any red cloth hanging behind the truck. Therefore, the tempo driver was not aware that the truck was loaded with iron rods. This accident happened due to the darkness of night and negligence of the truck driver. However, to know the exact cause of this accident, the police registered a case and further investigated the matter.
