7th Pay Commission: Good news for central employees. The November AICPI index is out. There has been no change. However, there is good news for the employees. It has been decided that this time the employees will get Dearness Allowance (DA Hike) at the rate of 56 percent. Actually, till October 2024 the DA score was 55.05%, but in November it has increased to 55.54%. Now the wait is for January 31, when the AICPI index figures for the month of December will be released. Then the final number will be decided. But now it does not seem possible to get more than 56 percent dearness allowance. Three percent increase in DA of total employees is almost certain.

AICPI index numbers 2024 update
The AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index) index for November 2024 remained unchanged at 144.5 points, which was also at 144.5 points in October. But an increase of about 0.49 percent has been seen in the dearness allowance score. The total DA score of the index in October 2024 was 55.05%. So in November 2024, the DA score has reached 55.54 percent. That additional benefit will be available to central employees as well as pensioners. Now the index of December 2024 is awaited, which will decide the final score.

Confirmed dearness allowance up to 56%
The calculation is done on the basis of average AICPI index of last 6 months (July-December). But, dearness allowance is considered fixed at 56 percent. Since the dearness allowance has become 55.54 per cent based on the data till November, the government will consider it as 56 per cent because the first 0.50 is rounded off for downward calculation and the higher one is rounded off for upward calculation. . , So, 56 percent is fixed.

Will DA exceed 56%?
Looking at the current trend, it seems that dearness allowance will increase by only 3 percent. Because, till November the index is at 144.5 points. Even if there is a direct increase of 1 point, the total score of dearness allowance will reach only 56.16 percent. Even in this situation, the dearness allowance of the employees will be only 56 percent.

What will be the effect of 56% DA on salary?
An increase of 1 percent in dearness allowance has a big impact on the monthly salary of employees.

Example
Basic Salary: ₹18,000
53% DA: ₹9,540
56% DA: ₹10,080
Profit: ₹540 per month

Basic Salary: ₹56,100
53% DA: ₹29,733
56% DA: ₹31,416
Profit: ₹1,683 per month

The rate of dearness allowance for pensioners will also remain the same. Due to which their existing pension increases.

What are the benefits of DA?
Relief in case of Dearness Allowance: DA reimburses Dearness Allowance. Improvement in salaries of government employees: This increases the disposable income of employees.
Benefit to pensioners: DA also applies to pension, helps in old age
Burden on the government treasury: The increase in DA has a direct impact on the government treasury.

Effective from 1 January 2025
After the availability of dearness allowance data, DA will be implemented from January 1, 2025. But it will be announced in March. The government usually announces this around Holi. At present, dearness allowance is available at the rate of 53 percent from July 1, 2024. After the approval of the Cabinet, the Finance Ministry has notified it.
