Patna High Court has refused to stay the result of 70th BPSC PT exam, but has clarified that the final result of the exam will depend on the outcome of the case. The court has directed Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to file the counter affidavit by January 30, 2025. The next hearing of the case has been scheduled for January 31.

argument of the accused

The lawyers of the Commission, while rejecting the allegations of the petitioners, told the court that no candidate appearing in the examination has so far complained of irregularities to the Commission. He mentioned the incident that took place at Bapu Exam Center on January 13, 2025, in which a candidate ran away with the question paper. Only after this incident some questions were circulated on social media. This incident is recorded in CCTV footage, which makes the allegation of paper leak seem baseless.

petitioners’ side

The lawyers for the petitioners claimed that the Bihar Public Service Commission had issued the advertisement to conduct the examination on 23 September 2024, and the examination was concluded on 13 December 2024. He said that irregularities took place in 912 examination centers across the state including Bapu Exam Centre.

Particularly, 12,000 candidates were present at Bapu Exam Centre, where many candidates did not get the question paper and the question papers were circulated on social media. The lawyers said such irregularities were not limited to just one centre; Similar complaints were received from 28 other centers in the state.

Court hearings and controversies

There was a heated argument between the government lawyer and the petitioners’ lawyers. The government side cited the directions of the Supreme Court and said that this case should be heard along with another case already filed.

Earlier, the hearing of the case was adjourned due to the farewell ceremony of the Chief Justice. The case was listed before a single bench of Justice Arvind Singh Chandel, but it was adjourned due to the time scheduled for hearing.
