Mumbai-Seven women farm laborers died after a tractor-trolley fell into a well in Nanded district of Maharashtra today. In this tragedy, a person played an important role in saving three women keeping aside the grief of his wife’s death. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the loss of life and property in the accident. He also announced financial assistance to the family of the deceased.

The accident occurred at Asegaon under Limbgaon police station in Nanded at around 7.30 am today. The tractor-trolley fell into a well filled with water near the road. Police and local administrative officials immediately started rescue work and drained a large amount of water from the well.

The DIO said that the bodies of seven women were recovered from the well after the rescue operation. While three other women were rescued.

A woman agricultural laborer living in Gunj village of Vasmat taluka of Hingoli came to Nanded. Women were going to harvest turmeric crop in the field, when the driver Nagesh lost control of the tractor-trolley. On the other hand, the 80 feet deep well located on the roadside was filled with about 50 feet of water. Kuan is called that which does not have any curb.

Women drowned due to tractor trolley falling into the well and JCB machine was also called to save them. But Tarabai Jadhav (Age 35), Dhrupata Jadhav (Age 18), Saraswati Burad (Age 25), Simran Kambale (Age 18), Chaitrabai Pardhe (age 45), Jyoti Sarode (age 35), Sapna Raut (age 25) lost their lives. Three other women laborers, Parvatibai Burad (age 35), Azabai Kamble (age 40), and Satwaji Jadhav (age 55) were rescued.

During this tragic incident, eyewitness Irting Sarode saved the lives of three women. But his wife Jyoti Irwaji Sarode died.

Describing the incident, Sarode said, “I saved other women but my wife drowned in the well.” There were 10 to 12 women in the tractor that fell in the well. I don’t know how the tractor fell into the well. I pulled three women out. The tractor driver ran away. Thus, Irwaji put the grief of his wife’s death aside and saved the three women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the women who died in the accident. The Prime Minister announced assistance of Rs 10 lakh crore. A assistance of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the nearest relative of each deceased from the National Relief Fund. Apart from this, Rs 5-5 lakh will be given to the injured. Each of 40 thousand rupees.

Talking to reporters later, Fadnavis said that orders have been ordered to investigate the accident. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
