Mumbai: A 63-year-old man has claimed that his iPhone was stolen at the Mumbai International Airport and subsequently he lost Rs 1.48 lakh in an unauthorised transaction.
About The Case
The Sahar police have registered an FIR against an unidentified individual. According to the FIR, B Dutta, a retiree from Kharghar, had recently travelled to Kolkata for work. On February 8, at 12.45 am, he landed at the Mumbai airport and arrived at Belt 13 to collect his bag. While retrieving his luggage, an unknown person stole his iPhone. However, Dutta didn’t realise the theft until the next day when he checked his email.
He was shocked to learn that Rs 1.48 lakh had been transferred from his HDFC bank account. He immediately got his account blocked. Subsequently, Dutta informed the Central Industrial Security Force, who examined the CCTV footage. It was seen that when the senior citizen was collecting his bag, a man, aged around 25 years, wearing a black shirt and carrying a sling bag, stole the phone.
