Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): About 600 parents exchanged 4,000 books of different schools at a Book Exchange Fair organised by Palak Mahasangh, Bhopal Unit, at Hindi Bhawan in the city on Sunday.
They included books meant for CBSE and MPBSE schools published by NCERT, MP Textbook Corporation and private publishers in addition to reference books for Class KG 1 to Class 12.
All books were exchanged free of cost. A table arrangement for 25 different schools was arranged in the fair so that the parents do not face any problem. Besides books, parents also donated children’s unused bags, copies and stationery.
The association has been organising the fair to provide relief to parents from the financial burden. “About 150 books were exchanged everyday in last 45 days through Palak Mahasangh Book Bank WhatsApp group.
More than 5,000 books have been exchanged free of cost through this group,” said Palak Mahasangh general secretary Prabodh Pandya. Those who can’t come to fair can exchange the books online. It is open round the year for all, he added.
Former State Minister of Madhya Pradesh Government, Deepak Joshi (Patron) inaugurated the event. He announced that he will donate around 5,000 copies next year. District Education Officer Bhopal N K Ahirwar participated in the event on behalf of the district administration.
