Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The government, in a written reply, has informed the Assembly that around 60% of the posts for specially abled people are lying vacant in the state.

The reply was in response to a written question by Congress MLA Jaivardhan Singh, who sought information on the status of appointments made on posts reserved for specially abled people.

The Congress leader stated that the number of specially abled people registered on the Divyangjan Sparsh portal in the state has reached almost 9 lakh, but the government has not been making appointments on the posts.

He further stated that the government admitted that out of 37,317 reserved posts in 75 departments of the state, 21,936 posts remain vacant, which accounts for 60% of the total posts reserved for them.

The maximum number of vacant posts—5,711—are in the school education department, for which even the notification has not been issued, he mentioned. The MLA also pointed out that the High Court had ordered in January 2024 that the government must complete the recruitment process for all vacant posts for specially abled people by July 15, 2024.

However, the government has not even issued notifications for more than 9,000 posts so far, clearly showing its disregard for the High Court’s orders, he added. This is not only an administrative failure but also a violation of the constitutional rights of the disabled people, the legislator further said.
