He feels it has become prominent due to the rising importance of social media and the resultant comparison. “Among the symptoms of Duck Syndrome are regular anxiety, feelings of being overwhelmed, inability to pay attention, extreme fatigue, and even physical reactions like headaches or stomach disorders. In severe cases, it can result in depressive episodes or a sense of not being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
As a psychologist, Dr Otta feels this topic of hidden conflicts shouldn’t be overlooked. “Speaking openly about mental health, defining realistic limits, and creating a supportive atmosphere that respects and accepts one another’s share can help reduce the negative effects of Duck Syndrome. Apart from that, seeking help from professionals might also bring up changes in their lives that could help them to abandon destructive coping strategies in favour of a more game self-acceptance.”
