Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a move to accommodate future metro train projects, a six-meter-wide space will be reserved along the under-construction Indore-Ujjain six-lane road project. This space will be in the centre of the road for potential metro pillars.
This provision, designed by the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC), ensures future expansion for metro connectivity without disrupting existing road infrastructure.
According to officials, the Indore-Ujjain metro line proposal is currently in its conceptual phase. Officials from MPRDC have coordinated with the Metro Rail Corporation to finalise the plan, ensuring structural designs aligning with metro pillar installation in the future.
Although the metro project has not been officially approved, the groundwork being laid now will facilitate its swift implementation when necessary.
MPRDC officials said that the provision would prevent any future complications or redesigns on the highway. He added that reserving the space now would streamline the process once the metro project is finalised.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this metro corridor is expected to be submitted this month. Following approval, further planning and coordination will be done.
