Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Senior Citizen Police Panchayat, working for the well-being of elderly people in the city, successfully resolved 6 cases involving disputes, including familial issues and property matters, as reported by the police.
According to additional DCP Seema Alawa, six elderly people were counselled in the presence of their children and other people, who were harassing them, and their problems were solved on the spot. In the first case, a 75-year-old woman lodged a complaint that her son and his wife were harassing her over petty issues.
They didn’t take care of her and argued with her for no reason. The officials called her son and his wife and instructed them to take care of his mother. The son and his wife assured the officials that they would stay somewhere else and would take care of their mother.
A 74-year-old man lodged a complaint that he had given his house in MIG area on rent to an acquaintance, who was staying with his friend but he later started living somewhere else. His friend allowed another person to stay there with his family. The person who was staying at the house was not paying rent for a few months.
Also, he didn’t pay the electricity bill. The police called the persons and warned them to vacate the house. After that he vacated the house. In another case, an elderly doctor had bought an office in a building in Palasia area but she was waiting for the registry of the property.
When she lodged a complaint with the police panchayat, the officials called the builder, who promised her to register the land soon. Son of a 74-year-old man who is a drug addict harassed his father by threatening him every time. The police officials counselled the son. After that he promised his father never to harass him anymore and stop consuming drugs. The problems of two other elderly men were also solved by the officials.
