Truck Hits Biker on Ghodbunder Road; 54-Year-Old Man Dies on Spot | Representational Image

Thane: A 54-year-old biker died after being hit by a truck in Thane on Monday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Sudhir Chaudhry (54), a resident of the Uthalsar area in Thane.

Chaudhry, who ran a shop in Thane, lived with his son and mother. The police said that the driver has been identified as Phulkumar Yadav, who was detained by the police.

Yasin Tadvi, the chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, said, “The incident took place on Ghodbunder Road at 12:30 PM when the biker was riding towards the Ghodbunder area from Thane and met with an accident.

The police said that as the biker reached Ghodbunder Road, the truck, which was coming from the same direction, hit the bike from behind, resulting in him falling on the floor and suffering serious injuries to his head.”

The police said that locals and bystanders rushed to the spot and found that he was unconscious and lying in pool of blood. They alerted the local police about it, and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police said that an FIR has been registered against the truck driver under the related section of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita. Further investigation is ongoing.

Kishor Bodke, Police Sub Inspector from Kasarwadavli Police Station said, “During the preliminary inquiry, it was learned that the deceased came under the rear wheel of a truck, which caused his head to be crushed in the accident. We are trying to determine how the biker came under the rear wheel of the truck. Further investigation is ongoing.”
