Delhi: 52-Yr-Old Businessman Shot Dead By 2 Bike-Borne Assailants While On Morning Walk In Shahdara; AAP Attacks BJP Over Law & Order |
Delhi: A shocking incident of gun violence has once again rocked Delhi’s Shahdara area, where a businessman was shot dead while on his morning walk on Saturday. Acting on complaints from locals, a team from Farsh Bazaar police station rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries en route. The deceased has been identified as Sunil Jain, a 52-year-old crockery shop owner.
Police Statement In The Matter
Shahdara DCP Prashant Gautam confirmed that a PCR call was received at 8:36 am reporting the attack. “Two men on a motorcycle shot Sunil Jain multiple times and fled. He sustained 3-4 gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead. Jain was a 52-year-old businessman who owned a crockery store. The family has denied any prior threats,” the DCP stated. Police have launched an investigation to apprehend the culprits and uncover the motive behind the shooting.
AAP Slams BJP Over Shooting Incident
The shooting has sparked a political uproar, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Delhi’s law and order situation. AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to social media platform X, accusing Home Minister Amit Shah of failing to ensure safety in the capital. He wrote, “Amit Shah has destroyed Delhi, turning it into a jungle raj. People are living in constant fear. The BJP is incapable of managing Delhi’s law and order. Delhiites must unite and raise their voices.”
Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also expressed concern, stating, “In the crime capital, Shahdara, the morning echoed with gunshots as crockery trader Sunil Jain was ambushed while returning home on his scooter after a morning walk. Reports suggest 6-7 rounds were fired, all hitting Jain.”
Investigation Underway
The police are probing the case from all angles, including personal enmity or business rivalry and are working to identify the attackers. Further details on the investigation are awaited.
