Madhya Pradesh: 500-Strong Contingent To Take Part In National Games 2025 | Representative Image
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): About 500-strong contingent from Madhya Pradesh will take part in the 38th edition of National Games 2025. The competition will be held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14. The contingent includes 377 athletes and 113 officials and coaches. Players from MP will participate in 27 of the 34 sporting disciplines.
Sports and Youth Welfare directorate incharge public relations officer Vikas Kahretkar told Free Press that the list was tentative and the number of players, officials, coaches and games might increase.
In all, 29 players have been selected for athletics, 14 in archery, 23 in wushu, 5 in cycling (road and trek), four in weightlifting, 20 in basketball, 10 in squash, 4 in golf, 22 in handball, 14 in beach handball, 16 in aquatics, 12 in mallakhamb, 16 in judo, 8 in taekwondo, 36 in hockey, 14 in wrestling, 10 in boxing, 6 in fencing, 25 in kayaking-canoeing, slalom and extreme slalom, 27 in rowing, 6 in triathlon, 20 in modern pentathlon, 5 in rifle shooting, 2 in pistol shooting, 12 shooting trap/ skeet, 2 in badminton and 10 in kalaripayattu The selections were made by Olympic Association on the basis of trials.
Six players including Rohan Gond, Ankur Chahar, Abhishek Modalwal, Adhya Singh, Durvisha Pawar and Rama Sonkar along with coach Manoj Jha and manager Sudheer Nema have been selected for the triathlon. The state players had preformed excellently at the 27th National Games of India held in Goa in October-November 2023. Standing fourth in the medal tally, the state won 112 medals including 37gold, 36 silver and 30 bronze.
