Mumbai: Hundreds of animal activists from across Mumbai will gather in Andheri to participate in a candle march on Sunday against the destruction of forest in Telangana. These animals lovers will mark their protest against the state government’s act of ousting the wildlife from their home.

Telangana government was recently subject to backlash for its deforestation activity in 400 acre forest near the University of Hyderabad to build IT parks. Although, the deforestation activity has been stayed by the Supreme Court, the state government has done a significant damage to the forest and its wildlife.

To mark their objection against Telangana government’s act of ousting wild animals and birds, animal lovers and activists will hold a candle march on Sunday in Andheri (W) from 5pm to 7pm. The candle march will start from Sardar Jaswant Singh Chandhok Chowk located on Lokhandwala Back Road.

The march has been organised by Roshan Pathak, animal rights advisor at Pure Animal Lovers (PAL Foundation). The march, specifically focusing on the recent deforestation in Telangana, will also oppose deforestation activities across the country. Around 500 animal lovers, activists and feeders are expected to join this candle march to protest against the deforestation.

“The Telangana government has not only damaged the green lungs but also demolished the homes of the wildlife. They have been made homeless by the government. Our protest is not only against Telangana government but all the state government who are engaged in deforestation activities,” said Pathak.
