A 5-year-old child was found dead behind the temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Datia on Friday evening. He had gone missing from his home in Musatra village on Thursday evening.

The deceased has been identified as 5-year-old Aryan Rajput, son of Mangal Singh Rajput, a resident of Musatra village of Sarasai police station area.

Police suspect that the child was strangled to death as marks of injuries were found on his neck. The police have sent the body for the postmortem. The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report.

According to the information, Aryan went missing from home at around 7 pm on Thursday evening. His family members and villagers started a search for him but could not trace him. The next day, when the villagers reached the Mata Mandir in the village on Friday for darshan, they saw the body of the child lying in the temple. Police were informed a team of cops reached the spot. They took the body in their possession and sent it for post-mortem.

A case of child kidnapping and murder was registered at the police station.

Villagers said that Mangal Singh Rajput has two elder daughters. Aryan was the youngest child and the only son. The grieving family has demanded the accused should be arrested at the earliest.

Police station in charge Narendra Singh said that a team searched for the child at the place from where his body was recovered. But that pit was empty at night. The accused threw the body there the next day. Currently, villagers are being questioned.
