Mumbai: A fire broke out in the wee hours of Friday at the Silver Hardware shop on NS Road near Dhanwantari Hospital in Mulund West. The incident was reported at 1:06 am and the blaze was quickly brought under control by 1:27 am. Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by a short circuit.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, as confirmed by BMC’s Disaster Control Room. However, a car and four bikes parked near the shop were damaged in the fire.
Accident At Dharavi-Mahim Junction
In another incident, a major accident occurred in the early hours of Friday at the Dharavi-Mahim junction. A large trailer lost control and collided with several parked vehicles, including taxis and tempos. The crash resulted in significant damage to five vehicles, some of which were pushed into a roadside gutter. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in this incident.
Video Shows Damaged Vehicles After Accident
Videos from the scene showed the damaged vehicles, including taxis and tempos, lying in the nullah, while the trailer remained stuck on a slope leading toward the gutter. The Sahunagar police and Mahim traffic police responded swiftly, arriving at the scene to assess the situation and manage the aftermath. To clear the road and restore traffic, a small crane was deployed to remove the trailer. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
No Injuries Reported, Probe Underway
The BMC Disaster Management team reported the incident at 6:50 am, noting that 4-5 vehicles had fallen into the Mithi River. The accident occurred near Kemkar Chowk at the T-junction in Sahu Nagar, close to Abhinandan Bar in Dharavi. So far, there have been no reports of injuries. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and assess the extent of the damage caused by the crash.
