Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Teary-eyed relatives bid farewell to four members of the Deshmukh family, who were among the five killed in an accident on Tuesday night in Karauli Rajasthan, here on Monday morning.  Their bodies had come to the city today morning itself while the body of the fifth deceased member of the family, Preeti Bhatt, was taken to Vadodara from Rajasthan.

The other four members of the Deshmukh family, retired officer Nayan Deshmukh, his wife Anita, daughter Tejaswi, son Kush, were cremated in Indore on Friday morning.

Their car collided head-on with a private bus and the accident was so horrific that 15 passengers on the bus sustained injuries. Preeti’s body was taken to Gujarat by her son Krishna on Wednesday while the bodies of the remaining members were brought to Indore on Friday morning and taken to their homes.

Later, they were taken in a funeral procession from Shiv Shakti Nagar behind Anoop Talkies to Meghdoot crematorium. Family members, relatives and hundreds of people were part of the funeral procession to the crematorium where the final rites were carried out. Deshmukh family’s neighbour Rohit Mawale said that Naina, daughter of Nayan Deshmukh’s first wife, and Deshmukh’s brother-in-law performed the final rites around 9:15 am.

Their relatives have also gathered at their home for the condolence period of 13 days to mourn their deaths. The family was going towards Gangapur from Kaila Devi Temple after offering prayers when their car jumped after hitting a speed breaker and collided with the bus coming from Gangapur. Sweets were found in their car. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that the speed breaker was not visible at night as there was no white line marking on it, leading to the fatal accident. The impact of the accident was so severe that four of them died on the spot while the fifth succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.
