Bangkok: At least 43 people were reported to be missing after an under-construction skyscraper collapsed in Thailand’s Bangkok following two massive earthquakes of over 7.0 magnitude jolted Myanmar. The building collapsed due to strong tremors felt in Bangkok.

A rescue operation is currently underway. Chinese media also claimed that one person was killed in the building collapse. The incident was caught on camera and dramatic visuals surfaced online. Visuals show buildings rumbling down and soon an envelope of smoke engulfed the area.

The collapse created panic among the people present in the area. They rushed to a safe location.

Meanwhile, due to strong tremors water also cascaded from a pool of a high-rising building in Bangkok.

The first earthquake struck Myanmar at around 12:05 pm (IST). As per the National Center for Seismology (NCR), The first earthquake of 7.2 magnitude on the Richter scale hit Myanmar at a depth of 10 km. Tremors were felt across the nation. Tremors were also felt in the northeastern part of India and China.

The second earthquake jolted Myanmar 13 minutes later. The magnitude of the quake measured on the Richter scale was 7.0, as per the NCS.

Some reports even claimed that one of the earthquakes was of 7-7 magnitude. The epicentre of this quake was reportedly in central Myanmar, about 50 km east of the city of Monywa. So far there are no reports of any injuries or casualties. The extent of collateral damage is yet to be ascertained.

Myanmar also witnessed the third earthquake within an hour after two massive quakes struck the Asian country. As per the NCS, a medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 5.0 jolted Myanmar.

Tremors were also felt in parts of China and northeast India.
