Shocking figures have been revealed in Manipur as part of a recent 100 -day campaign against TB. Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla informed that during this campaign, more than 400 new TB patients were identified in six districts of the state. During this period, about one lakh people were investigated.
House to house investigation
As part of this special campaign, the Health Department reached far-flung areas through ‘Flash Vehicles’. These mobile testing vehicles went door-to-door checking people, so that cases of infection could be detected quickly and treatment was started on time.
The active role of the state government
The Governor said that under the ‘Didy Mitra’ initiative, many social organizations and individuals have been nominated, who have taken responsibility for providing nutrition assistance to TB patients. This initiative is becoming a medium for giving necessary nutrition to patients as well as mental and social support.
Organized on World TB Day
A state level program was organized on the occasion of 44th World TB Day at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. On this occasion, various activities were organized to increase TB awareness, including a short film and the story of the patient who was successfully recovered.

Governor Bhalla said in his speech that TB is a serious challenge not only for India but for the whole world. This affects not only the person, but the whole family and community. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a target has been set to make the country TB free by the year 2025 and this campaign is a big step in this direction.

He described his contribution in the success of the rejuvenation program as important and also provided a proficiency certificate to the IRL laboratory.

Modern technologies were used in full in this campaign. Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health) Sumant Singh said that TB is now being identified in a more effective and accurate manner with the help of new technologies like nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT). Manipur has proved a brilliant performance in the TB eradication campaign at the national level and proved that any disease can be defeated by technology and public participation.
