The stressful life and polluted atmosphere around us have affected our skin like never before. This is why many skincare specialists list ingredients for skin care. Rose water is leading this list. From time immemorial, rose water or Gulab jal has been used to treat skin issues and keep the skin soft. Ayurveda too has given it importance. It is time we go back to using it in our skincare routine.
Rose water, skin care and Ayurveda
As revealed before, rose water has been used for centuries, especially in India. Its mildly astringent quality is used in skincare routines and food. It gives the skin freshness and glow. While all skin types benefit from rose water, it acts as a toner for sensitive and acne-ridden skin.

Rose water is known for its hydrating and cooling properties, especially in summer. It works well in cooling irritated or reacting skin. This water is also an antioxidant and lessens the ageing process. It has antibacterial properties.
The 4 ways of rose water usage
1. As a toner: The best use is as a natural toner. It soothes the skin while moisturising it and acting as an astringent. You can delicately spray it directly on your skin or apply it with a clean cotton ball.
2. In face masks: Prepare masks according to skin type and mix rose water. Rose water adds its properties to make your skin healthy. As said before, rose water has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities that suit your skin. It also hydrates the skin better.

3. To remove make-up: Use rose water as a natural make-up remover even for sensitive skin. It works as an astringent and clears makeup and other dirt without damaging skin. You can use it in its original form or mix it with coconut or almond oil.
4. As a make-up setter: One of the best usages is to set the make-up. Spray a bit on your face before starting to hydrate your skin and lessen the open pores. Spray it after putting on make-up to avoid oxidising it.
