The Narpoli police arrested four Bangladeshi men who were allegedly residing illegally in Bhiwandi without valid visas or documentation. The Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Subujh Mujeeb Shaikh, 30; Haider Aminul Haque Shaikh, 42; Jamal Juhur Shaikh, 42; and Mohammad Morshed Dulal Shaikh, 26. They were living in the areas of Kalher village, Purna village, and Diva in Bhiwandi and were working as laborers.
The police stated that they raided houses in Kalher, Purna, and Diva, all within the jurisdiction of the Narpoli police station in Bhiwandi, on December 22. Following their arrest, the men were presented in court. Investigations revealed that they had fled Bangladesh due to poverty and unemployment in their home country. A complaint was filed by an ATS officer from the Thane unit at the Narpoli police station.
The police reported receiving information about several Bangladeshi men residing illegally in Bhiwandi. A team was formed, and a raid was conducted in the area. During the preliminary inquiry, it was discovered that the four men had entered India illegally from Bangladesh. The police also confirmed that they did not possess valid documents or permission to work in Bhiwandi.
In recent years, Thane has witnessed a notable increase in illegal Bangladeshi migrants. In response, the police have launched a special campaign to identify and apprehend such individuals.
An FIR has been registered against the men under the provisions of the Foreign Nationals Act and the Indian Passport Act, the police confirmed.
