Mumbai: The Crime Branch, Mumbai, Unit-5, registered Crime offence under Sections 465, 468, and 471 of the IPC, along with Sections 12(1)(a) and 12(3) of the Passport Act, Rule 6 of the Foreigners Order, 1948, and Sections 5 and 14(a)(b) of the Foreigners Act. An Afghan national named Habibullah Prang (alias Zaheer Ali Khan), aged 38 years, originally from Tamer Zurmat District, Pakita Province, Afghanistan, was found residing in India under a false identity.
Raid Conducted
Acting on confidential information, the Unit-5 team conducted a raid and discovered that the accused had been living in Wadala, Mumbai, since 2007 using forged documents, including a PAN card and a driving license issued under the name Zaheer Ali Khan.
Following a detailed investigation and submission of evidence, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate convicted the accused. The court sentenced him to 11 months of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹8,000/-. The court also ordered his deportation to Afghanistan.
Unit Incharge Police Inspector Ghanshyam Nair, Investigating Officer Sadanand Yerekar, Court Officer PSI Vijay Bendale, and Police Constable Rausaheb Funde played an important role in securing the conviction.
