Navi Mumbai: Panvel City police have registered a case against a 35-year-old mother, for allegedly killing her eight-year-old daughter by pushing her off their flat before attempting suicide by jumping herself. The tragic incident was reported on Wednesday morning at around 8.15 am at the Aura building of Marathon Nexon at Palaspe phata in Panvel. The mother has been identified as Maithili Ashish Dua, a homemaker who stayed with her husband Ashish Dua (41) a civil contractor by profession, and Myra (8) at their flat on the 29th floor of the high rise.
According to the complaint filed by the husband, his wife faced psychiatric issues, she threw their daughter down from the 29th floor and then jumped down herself.
“The husband has claimed that the wife was undergoing psychiatric treatment and her medicines had been over. Hence she was not having her regular medicines lately. The husband has not been in a situation to tell us if there was any fight that happened before the incident. He was going to access the bathroom of their bedroom when the lady pushed him out of the bedroom and latched the room with herself and her daughter inside. While the husband kept banging the door from outside, the daughter kept asking for help by banging the door from inside,” senior police inspector Nitin Thakare said.
Later, the husband heard the window of the balcony opening, and suddenly the cries of the daughter had stopped. He got suspicious and looked down from other window and found the crowd collected, said police.
“There has been no allegation by the relatives of the deceased woman as of now,” Thakare said.
The husband, originally a Punjabi based in Agra and the accused wife, a Maharashtrian, had a love marriage in 2012. Police are further investigating the case. A case of murder has been registered against the deceased mother.
