Mumbai: A tragic fire at Sher-E-Punjab Junction in Andheri (East), caused by damage to a Mahanagar Gas pipeline, led to the death of a food delivery boy, left another critically injured, and caused 20% burns to an auto-rickshaw driver. The person responsible for the pipeline damage, identified as Pravin Khairnar (35), was arrested on Tuesday.
According to the MIDC police, Khairnar was produced before Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court No. 22 on Wednesday, where he was remanded to two days of police custody.
Authorities have booked him under multiple sections, including charges equivalent to culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances leading to the pipeline damage and the subsequent fire.
