Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 30-year-old man from Bhopal consumed poison on Friday after his girlfriend allegedly threatened to take her own life on Friday.
According to information, his family found audio recordings on his phone, revealing that he had an argument with his girlfriend before taking this step.
The deceased, Shakir Ali, lived in Ahmed Ali Colony and worked at an auto dealership near Bharat Talkies. His family members said they were ready for his marriage, but this tragic incident has left them devastated.
According to Shakir’s brother-in-law, Shahid Ali, he returned home on Friday night after consuming poison and soon started vomiting.
When his father asked what was wrong, Shakir admitted to taking poison and requested that his employer, Uzair Bhai, be called to take him to the hospital.
Shahid rushed him to Hamidia Hospital, where doctors treated him for several hours, but he passed away early on Saturday morning. After the post-mortem, his body was handed over to the family.
Shahid revealed that Shakir was in a relationship with a girl from Aishbagh. He alleged that the girl frequently pressured Shakir over small issues and threatened to harm herself if he did not agree with her.

In one of the audio recordings found on Shakir’s phone, the girlfriend’s friend can be heard telling him, “Talk to her, she is cutting her wrist and hurting herself.” To this, Shakir replied, “Her anger is ruining everything. She doesn’t understand anything in anger.”
In another recording, the girlfriend herself is heard saying, “I am going home by 4 AM. If I don’t answer your calls after that, come and get me. I am feeling anxious. I can’t take it anymore. I am very troubled.”
Another audio recording suggests that Shakir himself spoke about ending his life. In the clip, another girl tells him, “She has locked herself in a room and is not opening the door.”
Angrily, Shakir replied, “Tell her to open the door in 10 minutes, or I will take the poison pill from my wallet and swallow it. I’ll show you what it means to die. I will end my life.”
The girl tries to calm him down, saying, “Let me talk to her first.”
Shahid also claimed that a few days before Shakir’s death, the girlfriend’s brother had called him to their house and beaten him badly. He was locked in a room and assaulted, but no police complaint was filed at that time.
Shakir’s father is battling cancer in its final stage and has gone into deep shock after his son’s suicide. Shakir also had three sisters who are married and an elder brother, Mehshar Ali.
Aishbagh police station in-charge, VBS Sengar, stated, “We have registered a case and started an investigation. The family’s detailed statements are yet to be recorded. Further action will be taken based on their statements and available evidence.”
