Mumbai: A 30-year-old Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officer lost over Rs 15.99 lakh in 12 days while trying to earn money from a part-time job. Notably, he even received ‘returns’ of Rs 50,620 from the money he paid. According to the police, the Buldhana resident, who is posted in Chhattisgarh, had returned to his hometown in March.

During the vacation, he received a message, which offered Rs 1,400 to Rs 3,200 daily in lieu of sharing details of kitchenware and home furnishing products with merchants. The scammers then shared a bogus website link and asked to create a profile on it, said the complainant.

He further said that he initially received some returns and started to trust the fraudsters. However, when he sought his money later, he was told to pay more money as a security deposit.
